Louisville, Cincinnati, and Charleston Rail Road Company subscription, 1836.

This item is a subscription form for stock in the proposed trans-Southern railroad. The form lists the company's commissioners, all of whom apparently lived in South Carolina. It was sent to Colonel Abraham Blanding, a lobbyist for the company, whose name is written on it. A note saying "I send the enclosed to show, what we are doing in So Ca [South Carolina R.Y.H." was written by General Robert Y. Hayne, a former governor of South Carolina and mayor of Charleston, who was active in the company.
